Renato Reyes Allegedly Receives 1 MILLION peso for Anti Marcos Rally

The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) party list, is blaming the secretary general for Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN), of self-keeping the P1 million dissent spending plan during the Marcos 100th birthday celebration rally on Monday.

TUCP second gathering candidate Allan Cator stated, BAYAN's Secretary General Renato Reyes Jr. did not share the P1 million spending plan to other gathering records individuals and activists leaders who were available during the rally.

The group of previous President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. had commended his 100th birth commemoration on Monday at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB).

A couple of days before the celebration, Liberal Party was reported to have released at least P8-M budget to counter the Marco’s birthday celebration. The budget was said to be paid to protesters, who most of them will come from several party list groups, including BAYAN, TUCP, Gabriela, and others.

Cator said that Reyes was given P1-M cash to be distributed to at least 6 high profile leaders, but the latter failed to do so.

“Ang problema kasi ibinulsa niya (Reyes) ang budget para sa mga kasama nating naghirap din. Hindi naman para sa kanya yon dahil bukod naman yong sa kanila. Yong P1 miyon na yon ay para sana sa aming mga group organizers”, Cator said.

In his defense, Reyes countered Cator’s claim to be innaccurate.

“Lahat kaming leaders ay binigyan ng same amount, so I don’t know why he is claiming anything else”, Reyes said.

The argument was aired over DZYX on Thursday. DXYZ is a local radio station based on Quezon City operated by the association of the country’s party list groups, to which TUCP and BAYAN are members.

Reyes however said that he is willing to settle an agreement with Cator if the latter drop his claim publicly.
